TE AWA
Te Awa was established in 1992 by the Lawson Family. It is located in the Gimblett Gravels winegrowing region of New Zealand’s Hawkes Bay. The land Te Awa is on came from a sheep farming background. Before it grew wine, it was part of the Longslands Station and was used for grazing.
Te Awa is a single estate winery that embraces the rich diversity of their unique terrior. Te Awa’s philosophy is to ‘achieve balanced wines, reflecting the grapes from which they are made, and having the individuality of our vineyard site’. They apply some traditional winemaking methods such as harvesting and vinifying each parcel of vineyard separately. That gives them slight variations in flavour and texture so they have more options when they blend their wines.
